ABOUT

MISSION AND HISTORY

Investigation NOW began in the spring of 2013 as a 10-session program focused on exploring the contemporary practice of artists who work at VCU. Over the past several semesters, the course has grown to encompass a wide range of contemporary art concepts as well as a variety of artmaking techniques. Throughout these sessions, students are encouraged to consider how and why artists make work and to relate those ideas to their personal artistic processes.

Investigation NOW aims to promote the development of the following characteristics in its students:

  • Cross-disciplinary thinking

  • Comfort with ambiguity

  • Skills in creative collaboration

  • Confidence in exploring unfamiliar ideas and techniques
