Investigation NOW Week 1: Alternate Realities

IN Fall 2018 Week 1 was an amazing success! We started off the night with pizza and a getting to know you game (2 truths and a lie). Then we learned about the theme of this IN session which is Alternate Realities. We discussed various definitions of what are alternate realities are or could be. We looked at contemporary artists, Sister Corita Kent and Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., and discussed how they alter realities through words and language in their artwork. Then, students were introduced to their challenge of the night; what words would you choose to alter reality with? Lead Teacher, Patrick Carter, demonstrated how to screen print the chosen alter reality words. For the remaining hour and a half, students worked in pairs to design and paint their chosen words, to alter reality with, on their screen.

Check out the amazing and creative words the students created!

Excited to print their words next time!
