Investigation NOW: Week 4 Alternate Realities
This week, at Investigation NOW, we explored animation and installation art. We kicked the evening off right with some pizza, and then we made our way down to the computer lab to finish our animations! A couple of weeks ago, teachers Hannah and Kelly led the students in exploring and experimenting with the SculptFAB program to create creatures out of virtual clay.
This week, students finished creating their creatures. It was so exciting to see all the different kinds of creatures that our students created. We had monsters, people, flying aliens, mutant animals, you name it! The possibilities and combinations were endless. The students then moved on to animate their creatures with Mixamo software and had so much fun exploring different movement possibilities for their character. We all had a great time laughing and observing everyone's creature designs.
After animation, the evening ended with group discussions about installation art led by teacher Jolie. Jolie showed us awesome contemporary artists that create installation pieces. Students were divided into small groups all led by an instructor where they discussed what they thought about installation art. Students, in their small groups, split off with their instructor to pick a location in the building for their own installations. We can't wait to get started on those next week!
